Good Evening Warriors! This is Kristan Gallimore with your weekly message. The Southeastern staff want to thank each of you for a successful start to the school year. We know the car rider line is long and bus routes are too but your patience, understanding and support have been greatly appreciated this week. Tomorrow is our band instrument rental night for 6th graders. Reach out to Mr. Carter if you have questions. Our fall sports parent meeting is Tuesday at 5:30 in the big gym. Please make plans to attend. The candy bar fundraiser continues this week. Support our school and help our students win prizes all at once. Students have the opportunity to win an ice cream party, a field trip to the movies, a free class period and a field trip to tour the UNC and Duke college campuses. All money earned directly impacts student success. As a reminder, students cannot be checked out after 3:00 without proof of an appointment. To help our car rider line, please remind students to get out of the vehicle once you reach the sidewalk and remind them to watch for their rides in the afternoons. If you have not already done so, like us on Facebook. I post information, pictures and reminders on a daily basis. I want to thank you for supporting our Southeastern community. Have a great evening and as always, GO WARRIORS!!

Hello, this is Kristan Gallimore with Stokes County Schools. Beginning with the 2025-26 school year, Stokes County Schools has transitioned from Powerschool to a new student information system, NC SIS powered by Infinite Campus. The new NC SIS provides additional features to help you monitor your child’s educational progress and a mobile-friendly experience that makes it easier to see everything on the go. This system will replace PowerSchool as your one-stop-shop for grades, attendance, assignments and other important school information. More information will be available late July. Thank you!

Subject: Update on PowerSchool Data Breach and Ongoing Protection Measures
Dear Stokes County Families,
We want to make you aware of a recent update related to the PowerSchool data breach that was originally reported in January of this year. Recently, several schools and North Carolina Department of Pubic Instruction (NCDPI) employees across the state received messages from threat actors claiming to have access to student and teacher data from that breach. We have been informed that several Canadian school districts have received similar messages as well.
Based on the current status of NCDPI’s investigation, they believe that the threat actors have access to the same data tables that were originally compromised. These data tables include student and staff names, contact information, social security numbers (limited student social security numbers), birthdays, medical notes, passwords (limited) and parent/guardian information.
NCDPI has already notified appropriate law enforcement agencies, who are actively investigating this incident.
We want to assure you that your Stokes County Schools and NCDPI have done everything possible to protect this information. PowerSchool, the vendor responsible for the incident, has taken full responsibility for the breach and is providing support services for those impacted.
What You Need to Know:
Please do not open any suspicious links or emails related to this incident.
- Do not engage with anyone claiming to have this data.
- PowerSchool is offering two years of free identity protection and credit monitoring to all
affected students and educators through July 1, 2025. NCDPI is advocating for this
window to be extended further to ensure everyone has time to enroll. Affected individuals
can enroll in identity protection and credit monitoring at no cost to themselves here --> https://www.powerschool.com/security/sis-incident/notice-of-united-states-data-breach/
Services include:
- Two years of complimentary identity protection for all students and educators affected
- Two years of complimentary credit monitoring for all adult students and educators
affected
These services are available regardless of whether an individual's Social Security number was compromised.
Additional protection: Impacted users can freeze their identity for free through the North Carolina Department of Justice. LINK: https://ncdoj.gov/protecting-consumers/protecting-your-identity/free-security-freeze/
As we continue to work through this incident, we are committed to supporting students, families and staff with transparency and care.
Sincerely,
Phillip Bradley Rice, Ed.D.
Superintendent
Stokes County Schools

Good Evening Warriors! This is Kristan Gallimore with your weekly message. This week is an important one as we have End of Grade Testing on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Students who attend all test days will be eligible to participate in our attendance-based field day on the morning of Tuesday, May 20th. All students will have the opportunity to participate in inflatables on the afternoon of Tuesday, May 20th (thank you to our PTO for sponsoring the inflatable fun for our students). This Wednesday is our last athletic spirit night at Kobe Restaurant in Walnut Cove. Enjoy a meal and support our sports teams all at once. Friday is our last Freaky Friday of the school year and ALL students are invited to attend. We will have a dance in the big gym with the one and only, DJ Carter. We will also have a pickleball tournament in the small gym with the winning team receiving a cash prize of $20 each. Concessions will be sold and I know it will be an awesome time for our students. The week of May 19th is packed full of EOY events including field day, inflatables (as I mentioned above), yearbook signings, awards days for sports and academics, report cards and more. It is so hard to believe that summer is almost here! Please reach out if you have any questions about the EOY activities. Rest up, Warriors. We have a busy week of testing ahead of us. Get to bed early, eat a healthy breakfast and be ready to try your very best on all test days. We believe in you! Have a great evening! GO WARRIORS!!

Good Evening Warrior Families!
Next week (May 5-9) is Staff Appreciation Week. This is a wonderful time to tell your child's teachers and SSMS staff how much you appreciate them for the time and effort they put in each week. Bring them their favorite snack, candy bar or coffee order. Send them flowers, make them a card or simply say, "thank you". As always, I am so thankful for our entire staff and their love/dedication to the students of SSMS! Have a great evening!
